Whether we are treating a subsidence issue or building the foundations for a new build, we assure you your project is in qualified, caring hands at Signature.

Cracks can appear for several reasons. First, their shape and movement can indicate what is going on – subsidence cracks are usually diagonal in direction, for example. Weather, variations in temperature, moisture, deterioration over time and chemical reactions are all attributed to cracking and once present; they cause a real issue with structural integrity. Left untreated, they only ever get worse.

We are building specialists at Signature. With our expert surveying and engineering professionals in the team, we can quickly diagnose the issues causing the cracks and recommend remedies to rectify the problem. Then, we can make the building safe and progress with above-ground defect works or sub-structure repairs using several treatments and solutions.

Whatever work is required to fix the issue, we are acutely aware of time and attention to detail when securing the structural integrity. We respond quickly and deliver quality results every time.

A labour-intensive operation – underpinning is a significant yet necessary investment on a property prone to or suffering from subsidence. Precision and knowledge are an absolute must. At Signature, we offer traditional underpinnings with brick with concrete footings and mass concrete. Underpinning your property strengthens the foundations and prevents further damage down the line, prolonging the life of your property significantly.

A simple process, delivered with expert knowledge, we will provide you with all the necessary paperwork and surveys you need following the underpinning of your property.

When cracks appear in your brickwork, a simple repoint may not be enough to fix it, and certainly where brickwork is coming away. For safety and aesthetic reasons, brick stitching is the best way to rectify cracking, bulging walls, and slipped lintels, inside and out, and ensure a long-lasting repair.

At Signature, we use Helifix brick stitching bars and grout for our repairs. We work with our clients, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors and homeowners, identifying the cause of the cracking and make recommendations for the best route to repair.

The foundational activities before the major project works begin, enabling work is essential to a seamless, safe and productive job. These are crucial works from site preparation and access routes to security fencing and safety signs before any construction takes place for safety and production reasons alike.

Signature carries out extensive preparatory enabling work for clients across the Midlands, including;

  • Surveys, trial holds and site investigations
  • Site clearance
  • Asbestos - assessment and removal
  • Hazardous materials removal
  • Consents, approvals and permissions
  • Haul roads and access routes
  • Safety and traffic signage
  • Traffic management and diversions
  • Underground obstruction removal
  • Heritage and archaeological investigations
  • Utility isolation
  • Demolitions
  • Excavations
  • Groundworks
  • Facade retention
  • Void machinery dismantle and removal
  • Strip-outs
  • Demolitions

No matter the work that has gone into your property above ground, significant issues will occur if your foundations are not up to scratch or require repair.

Ground stabilisation is the work to improve the stability of the soil holding the foundations – preventing subsidence and deformations caused by water withdrawal and soil erosion. This kind of dilapidation causes voids and sinkholes in soft soil layers and can be significantly damaging overall.

An alternative to traditional underpinning, ground stabilisation uses less evasive techniques, thus causing less environmental disruption to the surrounding area. Our expert team inject special binders into the substrate to make the foundation soil forever resistant to mechanical stress and highly resistant to frost and water.

Ground or resin injections are a fast and cost-effective way to stabilise the ground for building foundations. We use expanding geopolymer resins that can be set to specific depths in one area or multiple depths as required.

First, we carry out a thorough inspection and analysis to determine the type and state of the soil. We then apply the injections to densify and compact the ground through a series of holes drilled into the slab or soil. By injecting the resin directly below the foundations, it binds with the underlying earth and, where appropriate, raises the foundations to the desired height.

A highly skilled process, our qualified technicians and tradespeople are experts in applying ground stabilisation techniques to improve the foundations for your property.

As part of a wider project or a standalone service, Signature provide tree and root removal from domestic and commercial premises across the Midlands. Our team use specialist stump grinding machinery to safely remove roots and stumps below ground level.

We can remove stubborn tree roots and stumps from various depths, using underground detection equipment such as cameras and thermal imaging to detect and avoid power cables, water and gas pipes. Following removal, we backfill the hole left behind to leave a smooth surface ready for planting, paving, driveway laying or a completely new building project.
